This video tutorial revisits a parametric 3D printable panel that I created a while ago using plain Ruby code. Since the underlying code is now included in my Scale By Tools extension, I used it to re-create the same panel. Watch the video to see how you can very easily create the same design (or whatever else you want) with it. You can then 3D print it, laser cut, CNC cut, or use a waterjet cutter to create this panel out of many materials.

In this video Tutorial I cover a basic skill for fabrication in SketchUp: parallel-projection printing. This allows you to get flat-shot views out of SketchUp's 3D environment that you can then use for cutouts, laser-cutting, CNC and more. While this can be accomplished easier using SketchUp Pro's LayOut software, it is possible to create these from right inside SketchUp.

When it comes to rendering software, there are many options available nowadays, but Kerkythea is one of the oldest free software packages that is still available for this task. It isn't as easy to use as other rendering software, but it still works reasonably well and produces good results. Check out this video for an introduction.
